Church Service - 25th Anniversary of St James Congregation at our current Urraween site

Throughout the year, St James Congregation and St James Lutheran College students and staff get together for worship. On Sunday 3rd May, Year Seven, Year Eleven and Year Twelve students and their families are invited to join the St James Congregation for a special anniversary celebration. Although the Lutheran Church has been around the Hervey Bay district since 1875, they moved to this Urraween site in 1990 and as we see since then, one of the products of the work of this church has been our College. This makes this Sunday anniversary very special indeed. As such, all families and students from Years Seven, Eleven and Twelve are all invited to be there and share in this event. It is an important occasion in the College calendar, which gives classes an opportunity to connect with the Congregation that began our College.  Your child’s participation is highly valued.

The students will have a role in the worship as they may be required to read the Bible texts for the day, lead prayer time or share reflections on the work of the college and also on changes that have occurred over their time here. Participating in this service is a way of showing that your family values and supports the Christian Ethos of our school.

Please arrive at 9:15am for a 9:30am start and 11:00 finish. There is an invitation to stay for a chat afterwards and to join us in a cuppa and some nibbles. There will be a BBQ lunch following that, which is open to all members of the community. It will be a great opportunity to meet some of the members of our church and also to connect with other parents of your child’s year level.
